About me
Life’s challenges can test our emotional resilience. There are times when these challenges are unavoidable, impacting our mood and relationships and becoming too overwhelming that we find it difficult to bounce back from our problems. Recognizing that you aren’t coping well with your stressors and/or emotional discomfort is a major step to healing.
While it does take so much courage to reach out, asking for help can be highly rewarding. Instead of facing your problems alone, speaking to a counsellor can help you work through your problems more effectively.
As an American born and UK trained therapist, I am very fortunate to have lived in multiple countries which have given me incredible insights and an appreciation of the uniqueness and beauty of different cultures. My experiences have inspired me to immerse myself in others’ worlds and to respect our differences.
I have first-hand experience of what it is like to be a second-generation American and to be an Arab-American immigrant in multiple countries. I’ve come to understand that people view themselves and their world from the perspective of their own cultures. Being respectful and accepting of other cultures helps me understand what is meaningful to you.
As an integrative humanistic counsellor and Certified Brainspotting Practitioner, I provide mental health support through tailored talking and brain-body therapies.
I understand that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the most fundamental element of the counselling process. It’s incredible what can happen when you’re around someone who is genuine and empathetic, validates your thoughts and emotional experiences and can see the best version of yourself before you can see your own potential.
I trust in your innate ability to overcome your difficulties, self-heal and reach your potential, despite the adverse life experiences that may have hindered this process.
The way I work is collaborative and unique to you. I draw on different perspectives and interventions in the moment, based on your individual needs, helping you identify and reflect on the different parts of yourself, thoughts, feelings and behaviours, become more authentic and self-aware, find meaning and solutions to your difficulties and ultimately process, release and heal your emotional and/or physical distress.
I aspire to provide you with a space for you to feel safe and heard, that motivates you to forge a deeper connection with your whole self and empowers you to make positive and meaningful changes in your life.
Because I know how important it is to find the right counsellor, I offer a free 30-minute, online introductory session which gives both you and me ample time to decide if we are the right fit. The introductory session also provides a space where you can introduce what you would like to bring to counselling.
