Nardine Khalil
About me
Hi, I’m Nardine Khalil (she/her)
I set up my practice to reach out to individuals who struggle to feel at home within themselves, or in their communities. I am passionate about using creative approaches to therapy and body movement to help us understand our unconscious processes and physical responses. In addition, I believe it’s an important part of your therapy to consider your cultural background and how that has been part of your story. I work with individuals who struggle with identity issues due to factors of race, religion, politics, culture, language or gender and sexuality; individuals who feel like they don’t belong. I help you explore the effects of these on your life and mental health. I am committed to support you regardless of you background, race, religion, gender, sexuality, or age.
We all go through times in our lives where we struggle to feel grounded and sure of ourselves. In other words, we don’t feel at home within ourselves. For some, this is something that has been an issue their whole lives, and for others, it’s something that comes around during times of stress. Whether you would like to find your home for the first time or would like to get back to it, I can help you get there.
I combine elements of psychodynamic psychotherapy alongside dramatherapy. That means that I weave physical movement, art, and metaphor into talking therapy to enable you to connect your thoughts and feelings to your body, and bring awareness to your unconscious process. I also highlight the dynamics of our therapist-client relationship as a tool to better understand other relationships in your life.
I have experience working with individuals from different backgrounds, in English and Arabic. I have worked privately and for the NHS, in schools, and in refugee services. I have experience working with both children and adults. I am a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and Counsellor (BACP), and a Dramatherapist (HCPC).
