On what autistic women can tell us about autism
This paper focuses on autistic women who received 1-18 months of psychodynamic psychotherapy in the NHS. Using neuro-psychoanalytic insights from Mark Solms’ work, it explores why autistic people experience exhaustion after tasks, the necessity of stimming, and how understanding concepts like homeostasis and free energy can inform therapeutic approaches. The work bridges genetics, psychology, and psychoanalytic theory to offer new perspectives on autism.
