About me

I’m Dr Dalia Khalatbari, a Clinical Psychologist of Syrian and Persian heritage. I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of East London and I am registered with the HCPC. I am also a systemic practitioner at the intermediate level. I am committed to creating a warm, trusting space where you can explore your difficulties and work towards meaningful change.

Having grown up in France navigating multiple cultures, languages, and identities, I know first-hand how deeply our cultural backgrounds, family dynamics, and life experiences shape who we are and how we relate to the world. I bring this understanding into every aspect of my work. I recognise the unique challenges that can come with migration, holding multiple cultural identities, intergenerational pressures, and the tension of living between different cultural expectations – and I want to offer a space where all of that can be explored openly and without judgement.

Throughout my career, I have supported children, adolescents, adults, and families across NHS and third sector settings with a broad range of difficulties – from anxiety, low mood, and trauma to relationship challenges, emotional dysregulation, OCD, grief, and self-esteem. I specialise in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, including survivors of violence and abuse. Working at the Helen Bamber Foundation alongside refugees and asylum seekers who had survived persecution and violence was a particularly formative experience that continues to influence how I practise today.

I also have experience adapting therapy for individuals with neurodevelopmental needs, tailoring my approach to what will be most helpful for each person.

My approach is integrative, flexible and compassionate, drawing on evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), trauma-focused therapies (NET, TF-CBT) and systemic thinking. But beyond any specific model, what matters most to me is the therapeutic relationship – I want my clients to feel safe, understood, and empowered to make sense of what they’re going through and move towards a life that feels more meaningful.

I currently offer online sessions in English, French, and conversational Arabic (primarily Arabic with some English). If you’d like to see whether working together feels right, I offer a free 20-30 minute consultation.
